At the very beginning of his career in hospitality, Gholam Ray Shafazand was given a role with Pacific Hotels & Resorts Inc., in Los Angeles. He was given the position of Director of Food and Beverage, which gave him the opportunity to develop experience managing the food for hotels and corporate housing. He continued his career, working in several restaurants throughout California. He continued to take on leadership positions and soon took on the position of General Manager for the Renzo Restaurant Group. To keep his hands-on skills fresh, he took on the role of owner and president of Renzo’s Bar and Grill in San Jose, California. Through skilled management style and knowledge of finance, Ray was able to drive lasting change and a continuing level of success for each of the five locations of the chain. Within just 30 months, Ray managed to identify the worst of inefficient processes in place, and implemented solutions that soon resulted in an incredible increase of annual sales – from $131,500 to $175 million. For the next ten years, Ray would continue to utilize his expertise and lead successful changes for many restaurants. Over these 10 years, he would receive four awards for increasing sales, customer service, and standard operating procedures.

 

With this success as a leader within the Renzo Restaurant Group, Gholam Ray Shafazand decided to continue building upon this career of working and managing restaurants. He would take on the General Manager of the Bell Tower Bistro in Saratoga, California. Ray implemented his strategies in managing staff for improved profits and decreased losses. This work gave the restaurant impressive results, generating $1.5M annual revenues. His work increased sales by 5%, growing revenues from $180K to $250K per month. Ray has developed an incredible expertise and ability to identify and resolve issues in business operations.

Gholam Ray Shafazand has built upon his hands-on success and has begun working as a Hospitality Consultant, assisting other businesses throughout the Silicon Valley area. With his proven experience in developing food service teams and operational procedures, Ray achieves the highest standards in customer service for dining venues. He has been able to manage food and labor costs, as well as auditing procedures that allow him to meet corporate objectives. Ray’s skills and recognition have been invaluable as a domestic and international consultant, and he has provided his services for various hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs worldwide.

In his consultancy firm, Ray focuses on training  and managing staff in proper food preparation and presentation with his knowledge as an OSHA trainer. He has managed and operated the Cuccini Restaurant & Lounge, Sabor Tapas Bar & Lounge and Myth Taverna & Lounge in San Jose, and Casbah in San Mateo, California.
